What roles are available for volunteer groups?

When will I receive further information about my role and briefing pack?
Once you register, you'll receive a confirmation email with details of your specific role and timings.
The Volunteer Team will then be in touch around 2–3 weeks before the event with
A Volunteer Manual
A Role-Specific Briefing Document
You'll also be invited to join an online briefing for all volunteers on Wednesday, 8th October, where we’ll run through the final details and give you the chance to ask any questions you may have.
If you have any urgent questions in the meantime, feel free to email us at: volunteers@motivsports.co.uk
We’re here to help and excited to have you on the team!
What specific skills are needed to volunteer?
For most of our volunteer roles, there is no need for any specific skills or experience. If there is a requirement it will be highlighted in the particular role - the list can be found on Volunteer Roles button.
However, please add any skills you think might be relevant to your registration form and we can allocate you a role most suitable to your skills.
What support will I get on the day?
All volunteers should feel that they have all the necessary information to carry out their specific roles. The event manual and briefing documents will be sent to volunteers 2-3 weeks ahead of the event, plus the online briefing a few days before the event should cover all questions.
On arrival, volunteers will be met by a Team Leader or Supervisor who will give them a full briefing explaining what is required.
Supervisors will also allocate volunteer breaks and be responsible for general welfare. If there are any issues, please raise them immediately with the supervisor or volunteer team if necessary.
What rewards will I get for volunteering?

Motiv Sports events can be seen here.
What should I wear to the event?
You will be provided with a Motiv Sports volunteer bib to identify you.
Remember it is an outside event and the weather can be changeable!
Please wear dark trousers/leggings/shorts and comfortable, ideally non-branded, closed-toe shoes or trainers.
Additional information will be provided within the event manual prior to the event.
How do I get to the event?
You will need to plan your travel and make sure that you are able to arrive in time for the role you have signed up for.
Most volunteer shifts start at around 7 am but you must bear in mind that some road closures will be in place and this may affect your travel plans.
We strongly advise you to use public transport - there is no parking for staff or volunteers onsite and there are many road closures in place. Not to mention thousands of runners on the move!
Your best plan is to check the TFL website here and plan accordingly. If you think you are going to be unable to arrive on time - please let the volunteer team know on volunteers@motivsports.co.uk so they are aware.
Is there any parking at the event?
Sadly we do not have any parking available for staff or volunteers. We strongly advise you use public transport to get to the event.
Can I claim my travel expenses?
All volunteers are entitled to claim up to £15 per day of volunteering.
A form will be sent with the volunteer manual before the event with shift times on our main page here
How do I claim my free entry into an event next year?
You must make sure that your attendance is noted on the day - make sure your team leader checks you in.
At the end of our events season, all volunteers will be sent an invitation to register for their chosen event.
You are able to change your choice of free event- just log into your account on Let’s Do This or email us at volunteers@motivsports.co.uk
