Our events come to life thanks to our amazing volunteers who bring their energy, enthusiasm and support.
Volunteer roles are varied— you could be welcoming participants, guiding them to the start, keeping runners hydrated at aid stations, or celebrating finishers with medals and goodies!
We are thankful to all our volunteers for giving their time to volunteer at this iconic event.

Volunteer Roles
Friday 19th September & Saturday 20th September

Friday Shift Times: 11:30 - 15:30 or 14:30 - 19:00
Saturday Shift Times: 09:30 - 14:00 or 13:30 - 18:00
During the week leading up to the Run Shoreditch 10K, we have Race Pack Collection taking place at Saucony Store, Covent Garden.
Main duties:
Using an iPad to issue race numbers
Assigning race numbers to those who have not been pre-assigned one
Recording these new race numbers using our online database
Providing information to runners and spectators about the event
Keeping the area clean by clearing rubbish into allocated bins
Queue management – routing people from outside the store to where pack collection is located.

Sunday 21st September

Shift times: 07:00 - 11:00
As a Start Volunteer, you’ll play a key part in creating a smooth and exciting beginning to every runner’s race experience.
Don’t worry—you’ll be fully briefed by a member of the team before you begin your role.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Welcoming runners as they arrive at the start zone with energy and enthusiasm.
Ensuring runners are in the correct pens, based on their assigned start times or waves.
Supporting runners within the start pens, answering any questions, offering encouragement, and helping build that pre-race buzz.
Guiding runners from their pens to the start line when it’s their time to go.
Cheering them on as they cross the start line—set the tone for an amazing race!
Keeping the start area tidy and organized for the next wave of runners.
Most importantly—having fun! Your energy helps make the event unforgettable.

Shift times: 07:30 - 12:30
As an Info Point Volunteer, you’re the friendly face and go-to guide for both runners and spectators. You’ll be a fountain of knowledge, offering help with a smile and keeping the event running smoothly.
You’ll be fully briefed by a team member before starting your role, so you’ll feel ready to jump in!Your role includes:
Being enthusiastic, welcoming, and approachable—you're the first stop for questions
Providing directions to the baggage area and helping runners find their way to the start
Assisting with queries about race numbers, race packs, and general event info
Answering questions from runners and spectators to keep everyone informed and relaxed
Keeping your area clean, disposing of any rubbish or debris in the appropriate bins
Spreading good vibes and positive energy throughout the day!

Shift Times: 07:00 - 13:00
This role is essential to creating a smooth, organised, and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the Run Shoreditch 10K.
Greeting and Information:
Act as the first point of contact for runners and spectators.
Provide a friendly and helpful atmosphere at the event.
Share essential information about race logistics and direct people to key locations (e.g., baggage area, start line).
Providing Directions:
Guide participants and spectators along the planned arrival routes to ensure they get where they need to go efficiently.
Help maintain smooth flow through entrances and key event zones.
Answering Questions:
Be ready to answer any questions about the event schedule, race details, and nearby amenities.
Stay informed about event changes or updates.
Crowd Monitoring:
Monitor crowd flow and identify any potential bottlenecks or issues.
Report any crowd control concerns or incidents to Event Control.
Transport Assistance:
Advise runners and spectators about public transport options for leaving the event area.
Offer directions to transport stations or shuttle pick-up points.
Skills Needed:
Friendly, approachable personality with strong communication skills.
Quick thinking to answer questions and provide directions accurately.
Situational awareness to monitor crowd movement and potential issues.

Bag Drop Team – Be Part of the Action!
We are looking for volunteer groups to take on the Bag Drop Marquee - Are you up for it!!??
As part of the Bag Drop Team, you’ll play an essential role in the race day experience—you’re among the first and last people runners interact with, so your energy sets the tone!
If you want to be right in the heart of the action before and after the event, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities:
Greeting runners with a warm welcome as they arrive
Accepting and organizing bags in the correct sections of the bag drop area
Returning bags to runners after they cross the finish line, keeping things smooth and efficient
Skills Needed:
A friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic attitude
Good teamwork—you’ll be working closely with others to keep things moving
A calm and organized approach, especially during busy times

Shift Times: 08:30 - 12:30
As a Finish Volunteer, you’ll be right at the emotional heart of race day—welcoming runners as they cross the finish line and celebrating their incredible achievement.
You’ll be fully briefed by a team member before starting your role, and you’ll be working closely with other volunteers and staff.Your role includes:
Congratulating and cheering runners as they cross the finish line—be their hype squad!
Encouraging runners to keep moving toward the rewards area (medals, water, snacks)
Acting as eyes and ears in the finish area to help ensure a safe and smooth flow
Staying alert for spectators who may accidentally enter the finish zone, and informing staff or stewards as needed
Calling on the medical team immediately if any runner appears unwell or needs support
Helping keep the finish area tidy and running smoothly
Creating an amazing atmosphere for both runners and supporters
And of course—having fun and sharing in the post-race joy!
Skills Needed:
Friendly and enthusiastic personality.
Ability to stay on your feet for the duration of the shift.
Quick thinking to manage and adapt to race flow.

Shift times: 08:00 -13:00
Medal Distribution:
Hand out medals to all finishers with enthusiasm and congratulations.
Be prepared for high energy and lots of smiles at the finish!
Help re-stock as the day goes on and keep the flow of runners moving
Volunteers will also be looking out for anyone that may need medical assistance and alerting their supervisor.
Skills Needed:
Friendly and approachable personality.
Ability to stay on your feet for long periods.
Clear communication to ensure a smooth race experience.
Able to lift and move the boxes.

Shift Times: 07:30 - 12:30
As a VIP Hospitality Volunteer, you'll be the warm welcome and helpful guide for our special guests. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a memorable experience from start to finish.
You’ll be fully briefed by a team member before starting your role, so you’ll feel confident and ready to go.
Your role includes:
Being a source of happiness and enthusiasm, warmly welcoming and looking after VIP guests
Assisting with sign-in and bag drop, making the arrival process smooth and stress-free
Helping keep the hospitality area clean, tidy, and presentable throughout the day
Ensuring refreshments are topped up and available for all guests
Answering questions and providing directions or assistance as needed
Having fun and sharing positive energy with guests and fellow volunteers!

Both these roles require you to have your own bike and helmet.
LEAD CYCLISTS - 07:30 - 10:30
You will lead the race and stay with their allocated runner. The cyclists are fully supported by members of the event team who will communicate with them via radio.
SWEEP CYCLISTS: 08:00 - 12:30
You will be staying with the participants at the rear of the event, supporting them with directions and safety. Patience and sympathy may be required.

Course Marshal – Key Responsibilities
Each of the 2 sectors (A–B) requires marshals to keep runners safe and supported along the route. You’ll be fully briefed before your shift.
Your role includes:
Cheering runners on—especially those towards the back!
Directing runners along the correct route
Providing help to injured or struggling participants if needed
Engaging with spectators and the public, offering event info and helping with safe crossing
Reporting any issues or concerns to Event Control
Being a visible point of contact for anyone needing assistance
Bring your energy, stay alert, and have fun while helping create a great experience for all!

AS1: Outside 8 Buckingham Rd, N1 4DD
We reserve the Aid Station for our Volunteer Groups as we require them to be staffed by 30 volunteers to run safely.
If you are interested in registering a group and volunteering together at an Aid Station or sharing with another group, please get in touch at volunteers@motivsports.co.uk.
This is a great way to raise funds as we are donating £40 per volunteer to the group.
